Thursday, September 10, 7:15 pm: The Women's Business Network welcomes everyone back from vacation for it's first meeting of the year at Holy Trinity Parish, formerly St. Theresa's Church, 15 Still River Road, Harvard, on Thursday, September 10, at 7:15 pm. Representative Jen Benson will join us to address your small-business concerns for the coming year.

Thursday, October 8, 7:15 pm: "The Power Of Choice" by Bob Hackenson of Dynamic Influence, on breaking through the mental obstacles that all small business owners are currently facing. Bob's presentations are very unique in that he blends insight and entertainment, with the main points being conveyed through magic, mental tricks, and more! The primary areas of focus will be the power of perception, negative and positive influences, and how to overcome internal and external roadblocks that you face on your company's speedway to success.

Tuesday, October 27, 2008 — Fall Luncheon, 12:00 noon — Pre-registration necessary. An informal networking and buffet lunch in the relaxing setting of the Fruitlands Museums, Harvard. Thursday, November 12, 7:00 pm: NOTE EARLY START TIME for these TWO noteworthy events: 7pm -Early Holiday gift display at November's meeting: Members may display products so everyone has a chance to do early holiday shopping. Pre-reservations for vendors are required. Vendors: Contact Rebecca Bell at rebecca@athomewithrebecca.com to reserve a space. Everyone: Bring your checkbooks! Take advantage of the time to SEE colleagues' products and mingle with fellow members.

Thursday, December 10, 7:15 pm: WBN Holiday Party; Great new SPECIAL LOCATION: Amerscot House Inn in Stow. Come get to know WBN members informally, share information and enjoy the evening. Bring finger food: a light snack, appetizer or dessert along with your business cards & brochures. Thursday, January 14, 2010, 7:15 pm: Business Challenges meeting. Small group discussions addressing the business challenges WBN members face in our small businesses. This meeting is designed to help members get to know each other and gain from others’ experiences and ideas in brainstorming sessions. Facilitated by Sue Jackson of Harvard Art and Kate Deyst of Growing Places Garden Project.

Wednesday, February 3, noon: Annual Connections Luncheon. The Healing Garden in Harvard will once again house our cozy winter connections lunch in the midst of their beautiful 8 acre wooded, garden setting. It's a "BYOS" format: Bring your own Sandwich/Salad & Beverage. Facilities are available to make tea/coffee. It's our beat the doldrums, make connections networking event. Bring a friend, whether she's in business or not. Reservations and pre-payment required. The cost is a small donation to the Healing Garden: a minimum of $5, payable to the Healing Garden, but sent to WBN member Ellen Kettle at PO Box 2332, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Thursday, February 11, 7:15 pm: DOUBLE EVENT: SOUP SWAP, and Own Your Money, for Women in Business: Talk is Cheap, Life is Not, by Belinda Fuchs. CPA and Wealth Coach. Despite the economy, there are many steps women can take now to claim their financial power, both at home and in business. This highly interactive program will help you discover a new perspective and empowered approach to controlling your finances and running a successful business. Learn specific strategies for taking the emotions out of managing your money and for putting the unique "IDEA" system to work for you.

Soup Swap (optional participation at February 11th meeting): Beat the winter doldrums and be nurtured/nurture another WBN member by making and swapping a quart container of soup. A perfect remedy for the home office working lunch. If you choose to participate, bring your soup in a non-returnable container (frozen or not) to the February meeting. Label it with your business card and identify the kind of soup. Indicate whether your soup is vegetarian or not. Swaps will be made by random number. If you don’t feel like cooking/participating, come to the meeting anyway! ! It’s our Valentine’s gift to each other.

Thursday, March 11, 7:15 pm: Roundtable workshops and networking meeting. Participants select their group based on a topic from the list of options. Each table will have a facilitator. Topics and facilitators will be posted before the meeting. (Previous years' topics have included marketing, time management, organization strategies, home/work balance.) Suggestions for topics are welcome. Contact Deb Oliva, dboliva@charter.net before February 7th with your ideas.

Thursday, April 8, 7:15 pm: Can Social Media Marketing Help Grow Your Business? Yes! by Deborah Buckley, of Deborah Buckley and Associates. What is social media marketing, and how can any business owner, even a non-technical person, leverage this free resource to build brand equity and develop a community for her business? We will explore outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and NING in scalable, strategic ways, with plans and guidelines for getting started immediately to establish web presence.

Thursday, May 13, 7:15 pm: The Art of Delegating…or…How to Get Out of Your Own Way So You Can Grow Your Business by Cindy Krist, owner SMB Partners. As a sole proprietor and business owner, you start out as Chief Cook and Bottle Washer (CCBW) — with only 24 hours in a day. Your decisions and job description directly affect the success of your business or professional practice. But how do you put together a plan for purposeful growth? Cindy will address the concerns of sole proprietors and show you how to identify your role and the associated functions of your business, determine the tasks you absolutely need to do yourself, and plan for successful delegation of things to other individuals or outside services — resources you may not know or think about that could possibly lighten the load and help your enterprise grow, perhaps more than you've ever allowed yourself to envision.

Thursday, June 17, (NOTE SPECIAL DATE — THIRD week of month), Starting time 6:30 pm, Annual Pot Luck dinner — Friendly Crossways Hostel, 247 Littleton County Rd in Harvard. Join us for a year-end celebration of work well done, networking, and a chance to get to know each other better. Bring a food contribution of appetizer, main course, salad, or dessert. Please label your dish with your business card and bring a serving utensil for it. Remember to bring your business cards and brochures for display and distribution as the WBN supply will not be available.
