Thursday, March 13, Mindfulness and Weight Management – Patricia Woods, 4:00-5:30pm, 122 West Emerson Street, Melrose
Many of us dealing with weight management issues may feel frustrated as we fall into old behavior patterns time and time again. Mindfulness can help us to become more aware of our behavior patterns – noticing the thoughts and feelings that may be driving the behaviors. As we incorporate mindfulness into our lives, we become more able to respond to situations rather than reacting unconsciously. Mindfulness can also help us to experience a sense of relaxation and well being in our lives. Many of us judge ourselves harshly when unable to reach goals – a sense of relaxation and well being may be non-existent. Yet, it is important if we are to embark on making lasting changes in our lives.
We will practice chair yoga postures, breathing practices, and mindfulness skills to integrate into our lives. Patricia @whole-health-fitness.com, 978-828-5295
Thursday, March 27, Mindfulness and Healthy Relationships 4:00 – 5:30pm, Fee-$30
Do you often feel that you have the same conflict over and over again?
In this workshop, we will introduce mindfulness, experience its benefits, and explore the impact of body language, self talk, and communication styles on our relationships. Mindfulness can improve the quality of our relationships by helping us to become more aware of our behavior patterns and learning to respond to situations rather than reacting unconsciously. We will learn how to develop a mindfulness practice and explore skills and concepts from the fields of counseling, yoga, and stress management.
We will practice yoga postures and breathing exercises which create a sense of deep relaxation – enabling us to take a step back and breathe when facing difficult situations.
Cultivating a sense of mindfulness will help us learn to navigate the ups and downs of our relationships and will enable us to enjoy their many rich moments.
